Knowles Acoustics pioneered a new type of miniature “surface mount” microphone for cell phones and consumer electronics. Targeting specifiers at global OEMs and ODMs, ARENDS developed Knowles’ first branding platform and global sales program. Print advertising in Japan, China, Korea, Europe and U.S. helped launch the campaign.

A new corporate ID package and sales collateral created by ARENDS articulated a distinct and consistent value proposition – aligning internally Knowles’ global offices, new sales agents and new distribution channels, while enabling a consistent brand message to move efficiently over the global terrain.

ARENDS equipped the Knowles sales force with collaboratively designed and custom-produced carrying cases. The cases enabled the product to be shown in a manner strategically akin to the presentation of fine diamonds. An application guide, both in print and on CD, strengthened the initial connection with electronic design engineers.

ARENDS revitalized the web site targeting electronic design engineers. The first year saw specification wins at leading cell phone and electronics OEMs. By the third year, Knowles had converted several major transactional customers into winning customers. Knowles Acoustics is now the established leader in surface mount audio.
